A $75,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man allegedly involved in a shooting incident Saturday that resulted in the death of one person and injuries to several others.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Clifton Westmoreland, 20, with three counts of first-degree battery.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Jason Boykin, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said police responded to a reported shooting at the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park on Beachfront Drive at 5:04 p.m.

Boykin reported that witnesses said the suspects were in a white vehicle that was located near the baseball field and three males and a female reportedly ran into the woods and were located. A handgun belonging to Westmoreland was also found.

A family member told police that there had been an altercation over a tee-shirt and $20 and she had called Westmoreland, her boyfriend, to come to pick her up because she was ready to go.

King said all the victims were taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital where Johnson later died. The other victims were expected to recover.

Police found bullet holes in the vehicle and shell casings on the ground and the investigation into the death of Johnson is ongoing.

Westmoreland was ordered to have no contact with the victims and said he would hire his own attorney.
