BONO, Ark. (AP) — Several people were injured after a school bus collided with a commercial trailer Friday morning in eastern Arkansas, authorities said.

Lawrence County School District Superintendent Terry Belcher told Jonesboro TV station KAIT that 19 people were on the bus at the time of the collision Friday morning near Bono, about 115 miles (185 kilometers) northeast of Little Rock.

Belcher told the TV station that seven people were injured and taken to the hospital with neck, back and knee injuries. He said the students had been heading to Jonesboro High School for a vocational class.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said that based on preliminary information, the bus struck a commercial carrier trailer.

Friday’s crash was the second this year involving a northeast Arkansas school bus. In January, nine people were injured when a Hoxie school bus collided with a dump truck.
