A $5,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man accused of stealing a vehicle Tuesday and using a credit card belonging to the owner.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors haves probable cause to charge Emmanuel Williams, 31, with theft of property and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Reading from an affidavit from Detective Chris Wieland, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said on Tuesday, the owner of the car reported that she pulled up to a business and left her car running and when she came back out, the car was gone.

Wieland reported that when Williams was questioned, he admitted using the credit card and said he thought the vehicle belonged to a friend of his mother.

Kizer said Williams has a history of not coming to court, with eight failures to appear in district court between 2013 and 2020 but has no felony criminal record.

He was told to come back to district court Jan. 4.
