A Pine Bluff man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly shot his mother and brother during an altercation.

Kyron Martin, 18, was taken into custody after police responded to a reported domestic shooting at a house in the 1700 block of Belmoor Drive just after 4 p.m.

During a court hearing Monday, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said when officers arrived, they found a male holding down another male identified as Kyron Martin. They also found Martin’s brother, Me’Akel Martin, 21, unresponsive and a female later identified as Martin’s mother, who was not identified in the court document, with a wound to the left hand.

All three were taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital where Me’Akel Martin was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound. The mother was treated and released.

Kyron Martin was taken to the Detective Office where he waived his right to an attorney and Carson told the court what he said when questioned.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $500,000 bond for Kyron Martin after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with first-degree murder and first-degree battery. Martin said he would hire his own attorney.
