A $50,000 cash-only bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff teenager accused of shooting two people Tuesday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Deavion Sykes, 17, with two counts of first-degree battery and with committing a terroristic act. Sykes is being charged as an adult and will be 18 in July.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Jason Boykin, Deputy Prosecutor Jay Gerard said police responded to a reported shooting at 1427 W. 23rd at 11:07 p.m.

Gerard said the victim is listed in critical condition.

Sykes was also at the hospital emergency room being treated for a gunshot wound and agreed to give a statement to the police.

Gerard said Sykes is currently on probation stemming from charges of robbery and possession of a defaced firearm. He was ordered to have no contact with the victims and to come back to court on June 2.
