A $50,000 bond was set Monday for a Florida man accused of stealing two vehicles, one in Benton and one in Pine Bluff.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge John Horak III, 20, with two counts of theft by receiving, possessing drug paraphernalia, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Reading from an affidavit from Detective Corey Wilfong, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said on Saturday, police were sent to Regional Park Drive in response to a reported stolen vehicle.

Carson said police ran Horak through Arkansas and National Crime Information Centers and were told he was a convicted felon. When questioned, he said he was not in the white Toyota and insisted he bought it for $700. He then asked for an attorney.

Castleberry was released pending further investigation.

Carson said Horak has prior felony convictions in Florida. He was told to come back to court on Nov. 9.
