A high speed chase that started on the Martha Mitchell Expressway Saturday resulted in the arrest of a man who was driving the vehicle.

Damichael Perry, 21, of Pine Bluff was taken into custody after he wrecked the vehicle he was driving, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said during a court hearing Tuesday.

Initially, Perry was booked into the jail on charges of theft by receiving and possession of a controlled substance, but King said the probable cause affidavit did not provide information on those allegations.

Jefferson Count District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond for Perry after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with fleeing. He was told to come back to court Feb. 8.
