A $5,000 cash only bond was set Monday for a Jefferson County man who allegedly hit his 69-year-old grandfather during an altercation Saturday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Terrell Williams, 23, with second-degree domestic battery.

Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said a sheriff’s deputy was sent to a reported domestic disturbance at a house on South Chestnut Street in Altheimer and was told that Williams had hit his grandfather twice.

Carson said Sheriff’s Investigator Sandra Harper took a recorded statement from the victim and told the court what the victim said.

A witness to the incident confirmed the victim’s account and Carson said the deputy had to use a Tazer on Williams after he refused to cooperate and approached the victim.

Williams, who has a pending case in Jefferson County Circuit Court for which he posted bond in August was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled. He was told to come back to court Oct. 20.
