Four people were killed and two others injured in a three-vehicle accident in Craighead County Thursday afternoon.

According to a preliminary report, Herman Noel Deason, 18, of Black Rock was southbound on U.S. 63 south of Bono when the 2021 Hyundai he was driving crossed the center line and into the northbound lane of the highway, striking the front of a 2018 Jeep driven by Avery Larusso, 19, of Lakeland, Tennessee. A third vehicle, a 2005 Toyota that was also northbound, was unable to avoid the collision.

Deason was killed as were Kreccia Gail Jones Pegler, 41, of Black Rock, Justin Lowell Pegler, 39, of Monett, and a juvenile female who were all in the vehicle with Deason.

Another passenger in that vehicle, Loura Ann Huskey, 31, of Portia and Larusso were injure and taken to hospitals in Jonesboro.

The accident was reported at 5:45 p.m. and the deaths bring to 553 the number of people killed on the state’s highways so far this year.
