A Pine Bluff man was shot to death early Thursday morning, marking the third murder in the city in five days.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the victim as Theodis J. Morris, 47. Kelley pronounced Morris dead at 1:47 a.m. and listed the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office at Little Rock Thursday for an autopsy.

According to a press release from Pine Bluff Police Lt. David De Foor, officers responded to a reported shooting at 1:05 a.m. in the area of 13th Avenue and Maple Street and found Morris lying in front of Apartment 7 at 1320 S. Maple. He went on to say that it appeared that Morris had been shot in the parking lot, then ran a short distance before collapsing in front of the apartment on the south side of the building.

No arrests had been made as of Thursday afternoon, and De Foor said detectives had not reported determining a motive for the slaying, which was the 11th of the year in the city. Through July 31 of 2017, 16 murders had been reported in Pine Bluff.

Police are also continuing their investigations into the shooting deaths of two other men in apparently unrelated incidents late Sunday night.

Antonio Urquhart, 27, was found dead inside a vehicle that had hit a pole at the intersection of Camden Road and Union Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene with the cause of death being listed as multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

While police were working that scene, they were called to 5102 W. 16th Ave., where they found Travis Scales, 32, inside the residence with a gunshot wound. Scales was pronounced dead at the scene.
