UPDATED STORY:
On January 9, 2023, at about 7:00 P.M., Officers of the Pine Bluff Police Department responded to a report of gunshots on Port Road near Byrd Street. Officers located a single vehicle partially in the roadway at this intersection.
The vehicle was occupied by a single male who had suffered apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Deputy Coroner with the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Harold Withers of Pine Bluff. Withers’ body is being sent to the state crime lab to determine the official cause and manner of death.

This is the second homicide for 2023 in Pine Bluff.

The Pine Bluff Police Department is in the early stages of a homicide investigation after a shooting took play at the corner of Port Road and Byrd Road.
Sources tell Deltaplex News that the victim is a male believed to be in his 30’s. The victim’s name will be released once Next of Kin has been notified.
No suspect information is available at this time.
