A Sheridan man was killed in an Izard County crash Wednesday morning according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

37-year-old Edward James, Jr of Sheridan was a passenger in a 2003 GMC pickup truck that was driven by 38-year-old Mark Southerland of Searcy according to the report.

The report states that Southerland was driving northbound on Wideman Road in Izard County at 7:10 a.m. when he lost control and ran off of the side of the road before entering the roadway again before overturning the vehicle.

James was killed in the accident while Southerland was injured.

Izard County Deputy Reagan Simmons reported that the weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.

267 people have died on Arkansas highways in 2022 according to the report.
