A $35,000 bond was set Monday for a man accused of breaking into a parked vehicle and taking several items.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Larry Allen Jr., 57, with breaking or entering and theft of property.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Sgt. Ryan Moheb, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said police responded to a reported disturbance Friday.

King said officers located Allen near 8th Avenue and Virginia Street and when he was questioned, admitted breaking into the vehicle and taking the items because he said he need money.

Allen, who has several prior thefts and burglary-related convictions was told to come back to court on April 12.
