A $25,000 bond was set Tuesday for an Altheimer man accused of shooting another man Friday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Kavreon McGown, 19, with second-degree battery.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Sgt. Steven Rucker, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said police were sent to the Emergency Room at Jefferson Regional Hospital where a male was being treated for a gunshot wound to the upper abdomen.

Carson said McGown has no prior criminal history or pending charges. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled and said he would hire his own attorney.
