With no dissent, the Pine Bluff City Council voted Monday night to invest $2 million in the Delts Rhythm and Blues Cultural District which is designed to promote tourism and improve the economy.

That money will come from the five-eighths cent sales tax approved by voters and commonly known as the Go Forward Pine Bluff sales tax.

On Tuesday, Council Member Bruce Lockett and Ryan Watley, the CEO of Go Forward Pine Bluff appeared on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show and Lockett was asked why the council voted to invest in the cultural district.

He went on to say that the Delta Rhythm and Bayou’s Alliance is a non-profit organization in cooperation with the city’s Advertising and Promotion Commission.

Watley was then asked if this exhibit is built, would it attract tourists?

Lockett was asked who would be in charge of the project and said this.

He went on to say that the person who is hired to coordinate the project would also be working to improve tourism at attractions the city already owns such as the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Historical Museum and the Railroad Museum
