HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. (KATV) –A 23-year-old man drowned in Greers Ferry Lake on Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.
Cleburne County deputies along with other agencies were called to Dam Site Park near Heber Springs for a possible drowning. When they arrived, rescue crews learned 23-year-old George Reed jumped off bluffs into the lake. He did not resurface.
Divers were able to locate Reed just before 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
This marks the first drowning on Greers Ferry Lake in 2019.
