A $20,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of entering a garage on East 38th Avenue Monday and taking several items.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge James Young, 37, with breaking or entering.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Tamina Smith, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said police were sent to a residence on East 38th Avenue at 5:30 a.m. in response to a reported theft.

Carson said when Young was questioned, he admitted entering the garage and taking items off the vehicle but denied taking the chain saw. Security video however showed taking the items including the chain saw.

She said Young has prior convictions for breaking or entering, theft by receiving, and residential burglary. Young was told to come back to court Sept. 12.
