The Pine Bluff Police Department is conducting an investigation into a shooting that seriously injured a 2-year-old child on July 4. At about 3:30 am she was brought into the emergency room by private vehicle.

Her mother reported she was in a friend’s ca and after picking up her daughter, they were traveling south on Georgia Street when they reached the intersection at 21st Avenue.

The mother said she heard a loud bang that sounded like a gunshot and turned around where she discovered her child had been shot in the left side of the neck. They then rushed to the Jefferson Regional Medical emergency room.

The girl is currently in a Little Rock hospital. Anyone who thinks they have information is asked to contact the Detective Division. Individuals who were in the area of 21st and Georgia St. around 3:30 a.m. are asked to try and remember anything that might be able to assist in identifying the individual or individuals responsible.
