A one-vehicle accident in Garland County Monday morning resulted in the deaths of two people.

According to a preliminary report, Natasha Laliberete 36, of Pearcy was westbound on Amity Road in the 3900 block when the 2006 Ford Mustang she was driving left the north side of the roadway, went into a ditch and struck a culvert. The vehicle then turned over and struck a tree.

After striking the tree, the vehicle overturned an additional time and came to rest in the northside ditch.

Laliberete and a passenger in her car, James T. Medley, 24, of Hot Springs were pronounced dead at the scene.

The deaths bring to 159 the number of people killed on the state’s highways so far this year.
