A $150,000 bond was set Wednesday for the mother of a capital murder suspect who is accused of hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence in the case.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond for Margaret Lowe, 33, based on a probable cause affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin. Lowe is the mother of Quentine Lowe, 18, one of four suspects in a shooting at Sunset Village Apartments on March 7 that resulted in the death of two people and injuries to two more.

Reading from that affidavit, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West explained Lowe’s involvement.

West said later Lowe spoke to detectives and handed over a phone.

Little Rock attorney Theodis Thompson, who is representing Lowe and her son disagreed with the allegations and said this.

Before issuing her ruling, Bridgforth said her understanding of the facts was that detectives asked for information on the security camera system and Lowe either said it didn’t exist or she didn’t have it at the time, then later provided detectives with a phone.

West said that was correct but added that the phone she provided “was not what she purported it to be” and initial attempts to contact her were unsuccessful.
