During a court hearing Monday, Deputy Prosecutor Jay Gerard said Cox had left the residence in a vehicle before the deputy arrived and a male at the house said he had gotten up at about 7 a.m. and was going to do some remodeling. The male said Cox wanted to go to town and the two began to argue.

During the argument, Cox allegedly fired several shots toward the empty swimming pool and the male said she threatened to shoot him as he ran.

Gerard said Cox was located at a residence on Highway 104 and she allegedly said both she and the male had fired the gun while target practicing. She also alleged that the male had used methamphetamine. When questioned, she admitted firing shots toward the swimming pool.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $5,000 bond for Cox after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge her with aggravated assault. The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Cox who was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
